Meet Aisha (California)
34 5'8 ft tall

Q. Who do you get your height from? Mom or Dad?
A.My height comes from my Papi! Pops was 6’2” my Mommy is 5’2’’ and she thinks she is tall because she is 3 inches taller than her twin sister but… Does that even count though? I’m not going to knock my Mom’s “tall” but yeah... Nah…

Q. What do you like about being tall?
A. I love being self-sufficient. For example, I do not have to ever… Ever! Yell (at the top of my lungs) for someone tall to come and grab something off of the top of the refrigerator or from the highest shelf in the cabinet.

Q. What do you dislike about being tall?
A. Re-adjusting my car seat is the thing that I hate most about being tall (right now). I let shorter folks borrow my car and they never fix my seat back when they are done. Come on people! When I was young I hated all of the unsolicited height questions and references that I used to receive, but I do not care about that anymore.

Q.Have you learned to embrace your height? Why or why not?
A. Yes, throughout the years I have learned to control my controllable(s). That means that I know longer concern myself with what others think about me being different or tall because I cannot control the thoughts of others and it doesn’t matter. Why should I be at odds with the way that God made me? I cannot control my height and I will not apologize for being someone that stands out. I would rather stand out than blend into obscurity. God made me tall for a reason so I stunt and celebrate myself and my tall proudly!

Q.What age did you notice that your were tall/unique? Were you teased?
A. I’ve been taller than pretty much everyone around me for about as long as I can remember. When I was a child, I remember being told “you are going to be tall like your daddy and your grandma one day.” I have no memory of the first time that I realized that I was tall. A kid called me “the green giant’’ a few times back in my old neighborhood because he felt that I was “too tall” and “too fat.” I felt bad back then. However, he was just mad because I used to box him out and block all of his shots. He was also mad that I would get picked first or second when playing basketball and other sports when playing in the neighborhood. I was ten and that was the first time that I remember being made fun of for being tall.

Q.Where is your favorite place to shop for clothes and shoes?
A. Online shopping is my Kryp-to-nite! I love Rue 21. I also love Fashion to Figure and Rebdolls right now. I know those are fast fashions but I feel that these brands really get that tall fat girls and make clothing for them and others. I am also obsessed with 11 Honore and Universal Standard. My bank account needs to grow up before I can purchase from those brands. For shoes I purchase from Nordstrom Rack, Burlington, Aldo, and Shoe Dazzle.

Q.What is the number one question people ask you daily because you're tall?
A. In my house? “Aisha can you get this off of the top shelf for me please?” People also ask me “how tall are you?” all the time though. I do not care unless it’s some random person being obnoxious.

Q.Do you wear heels? Why or why not?
A. I do not wear heels as much as I used to. Not because of my height. I just had a knee injury that makes me less likely to wear them

Q.Are you a girly girl, tomboy or both?
A. I am a Glam girly girl with Tom Boy tendencies. I love to take girly glam elements and pair them against masculine Tom Boy elements. I love disruption and contrast

.Q.Advice for others who are struggling to embrace their height?
A. Self-care is self-love period! Accept yourself, Love yourself, and be kind to yourself because you are the only self that your literally will ever get.

Meet Millisa   (Florida)
21 6'0 ft tall

Q.Who do you get your height from? Mom or Dad?
A.Both! My Mom is around 5’9-5’10 and my dad is 6’5.

Q. What do you like about being tall?
A.I stand out from the rest, I used to hate that but I’m learning to love it. It’s rare seeing a woman six feet and over, I was designed to stand out from the rest.

Q. What do you dislike about being tall?
A.It’s so hard finding clothes that truly fit, aren’t super expensive or are cute. Since I’m all legs it’s really hard finding quality jeans/pants/skirts.

Q.Have you learned to embrace your height? Why or why not?
A.I’m still learning, honestly I’ve started embracing my height and myself honestly not too long ago. So I’m learning to embrace the beauty in my height and understanding that’s it pretty cool not to be like everyone else.

Q. What age did you notice that your were tall/unique? Were you teased?
A.I think around 1st grade I’ve always been the tallest in my class. I was bullied from elementary through high school it was something that I dealt with almost everyday, middle school was the hardest.

Q. Where is your favorite place to shop for clothes and shoes?
A.Right now my favorite place to shop is Pretty Little Thing! For my fellow talls, if you didn’t know they have a tall section with super cute clothes. As for shoes I haven’t found my favorite shop but I would say Nordstrom Rack.

Q. What is the number one question people ask you daily because you're tall?
A.How tall are you? And if it’s a guy (who is shorter) it’s followed up with them telling me I’m taller than what I told them because they think they’re a certain height when they’re usually much shorter than they want to admit.

Q. Do you wear heels? Why or why not?
A.Yes! My motto at this point is if I love them and they’re in my size, I’m wearing them!

Q. Are you a girly girl, tomboy or both?
A.I’m a little bit of both. I enjoy getting glammed up and looking good but if it’s a chill day you’ll catch me in some Nike biker shorts, over-sized hoodie and sneakers.

Q. Advice for others who are struggling to embrace their height?
A.I know it can be hard, we’re not really represented in the media and sometimes people can say hurtful and horrible things. Those people that feel the need to share their negativity either don’t like themselves or are envious, so please don’t let them bring you down. When you people tell you that you or your height is amazing believe it! You’re worthy of love! Don’t feel discouraged when dating, I know we underestimate ourselves but you’d be surprised! Understand and believe you were designed to break the mold, you’re beautiful inside and out. You standout without even trying and that’s something people wish they could do. You’re a stunner!

Meet McKenzie (Tennessee)
31 6 ft tall

Q. Who do you get your height from? Mom or Dad?
A.I get my height from both my mother and father. My mother is 5'10 and my father is 6'4.

Q. What do you like about being tall?
A. I like being tall because I never go into a room unnoticed.

Q. What do you dislike about being tall?
A. I dislike being tall because it makes dating a little bit more difficult. A lot of men are uncomfortable with women that are tall or taller than them and I'm uncomfortable dating a man that is shorter than me.

Q. Have you learned to embrace your height? Why or why not?
A. I have learned to embrace my height with age because when I get older I don't want to have an regrets on limiting myself due to my being self conscious about my height.

Q.What age did you notice that your were tall/unique? Were you teased?
A.I was about 11 years old when I realized that I was tall. I was never teased because people were intimidated by me, so everyone wanted to stay on my good side.

Q. Where is your favorite place to shop for clothes and shoes?
A. My favorite place to shop for clothes is Old Navy and DSW for shoes.

Q.What is the number one  question people ask you daily because you're tall?
A. I constantly get asked if I played basketball in high school and college. The short answer is "no". Lol.

Q. Do you wear heels? Why or why not?
A.I do wear heels but only when I'm going to a business conference. I'll wear them because I like how they look on my feet and it makes me feel very authoritative yet feminine.

Q. Are you a girly girl, tomboy or both?
A. I'm a little bit of both. I have girly moments (mostly when I'm going to work), but when I'm home or just out and about I bring out more of the tomboy side.

Q. Advice for others who are struggling to embrace their height?
A. I just say love your height because there's nothing you can do about it. Don't minimize yourself to make others feel comfortable. Plus, you'll be old one day and will start shrinking and will wish that you were more appreciative of your height when you were tall.

Meet Brittany (Ohio)
38 6'2 ft tall

Q. Who do you get your height from? Mom or Dad?

A. Lol. Both my parents are pretty short. My mom is 5'7 and my dad was 5'9. My grandparents were pretty short as well. So I always say I come from the Amazon women and was made of clay like Wonderwoman!
It's either that or the milkman, all the milk I drank as a kid, or the hormones in the chicken. Lol 🤗 I think I'll stick with being an Amazon woman!

Q. What do you like about being tall?
A.I Love that God gave me the ability to stand out above the rest! It also didn't hurt as a Basketball player and getting a full ride Basketball scholarship in college. Or carrying twins!

Q. What do you dislike about being tall?
A
.Hard to find clothes and shoes that are fashionable. Also the price my knees and back have paid. Not to mention living in a small world and hitting my head and knees and things 🤦🏽‍♀️
Also, feeling you need to change your voice or position just so people don't feel intimidated or threatened by your height.

Q. Have you learned to embrace your height? Why or why not?
A.
I have! The older I've gotten the more I was able to see it as a gift and a blessing to be so tall!

Q. What age did you notice that your were tall/unique? Were you teased?
A.Around 12-13 I really took notice. I noticed I was taller then most of the kids in my school and my feet would hang off the bed. Lol I also noticed that before my mom or dad could do anything that had to take me to test it. Like before buying a new car I had to sit in the back to make sure there was enough room. Lol

Q. Where is your favorite place to shop for clothes and shoes?
A.Still finding places. But GAP, Banana republic, Old Navy, Nordstrom, Long Tall Sally are a few that I've found to work. I've even had a few people make me clothes.

Q. What is the number one question people ask you daily because you're tall?
A
. Too many to even name....Lol How tall are you? Do you play ball? What do you eat to get so tall? 🤦🏽‍♀️

Q. Do you wear heels? Why or why not?
A.
Yes, sometimes! I'm still a lady. I like to look cute and sometimes a cute outfit calls for some cute heels! I say rock it! 😉💪🏽

Q. Advice for others who are struggling to embrace their height?
A
. Embrace the beautiful height God gave you! He made you to stand out for a reason. Love the beautiful skin and height you are in! Trust me, there are many who wish they had it. You can always come to the rescue and help them reach things off the top shelf. 😁

Q. Are you a girly girl, tomboy or both?
A.Both! Growing up I was more of a girly girl. I even cheered for a while. Then I got to tall for the skirts and decided to pick up a ball 🏀. So I definitely Love my Nikes and Tshirts but I also like to look nice and dress up. ❤

Meet Brenda (Kenya)
22 6'1 ft tall

Q. I got my height from both my mom and A.Dad, they are both tall.

Q. What do you like about being tall?
A.
What I mostly like about being tall is standing out, everywhere. Everyday I walk along the road or walk in a room I create that fuzz(unintentionally) and people turn to check me out because of my height. Also don't have to struggle looking for my friends in a crowd.

Q. What do you dislike about being tall?
A.What I mostly dislike about my height is not being able to get cute dresses and shoes that fit me. Also they way people react to my height like am abnormal or something yet my height is really cool.

Q. Have you learned to embrace your height? Why or why not?
A.Yes, I have learnt to embrace my height, because guess what it ain't going anywhere anytime, and also most of my family members are tall so we get to understand each other when it gets to tall people problems.

Q. What age did you notice that your were tall/unique? Were you teased?
A.I have always been tall since I was in kindergarten. It was really hard because the students and teachers would make me feel like am the oldest among everyone, yet am actually the youngest. There was a time, when I was joining first grade I was six years old, my Mom took me to school, they looked at me and told my mom that I was way to old to be joining first grade. She was querred for having me stay at home and not join school. My mom just produced my birth certificate and you can imagine the embracement on their faces.I also got bullied by students for not being a bully(I was really soft and kind), but they always expected me to be the bully because of my height.

Q. Where is your favorite place to shop for clothes and shoes?
A.My favorite place to buy shoes is the Bata shop, it always has my right shoes and size, I have always been wearing shoes from Bata as long as I can remember till to date. I don't have a favorite place for my clothes because I never get my size especially for trousers and dresses.

Q. What is the number one  question people ask you daily because you're tall?
A.I get to be asked many questions everyday about my height, which sometimes its annoying because they are the same questions everyday. So am always like when are you people gonna get used to my height. Eg;How tall are you? , who did you get your height from? , how does it feel to be tall?, do you play basketball? , do you model.?

Q. Do you wear heels? Why or why not?
A.Yes, I do were heels once in a while. First it is because am a model and I have to wear heals on the runway
Secondly I like wearing heals to bring up my confidence and to intimidate people, cause when I where heels trust me I am a giant. I wish I could wear them more, without getting critics because I really love heels .

Q. Are you a girly girl, tomboy or both?
A.Am both a girly girl and tomboy, I can pull out both looks.

Q. Advice for others who are struggling to embrace their height?
A.They should learn to accept their height and stop wishing to be short, though sometimes it is hard. Being tall has different advantages and disadvantages so is being short. No height is perfect. Just accept your height and embrace it. It is your unique feature that no one can steal from you.

Meet Yemi (London)
29 6'5 ft tall

Q.Who do you get your height from? Mom or Dad?
A. get my height from my mum's side of the family. She's about 5'10 but my grandparents were both 6ft.

Q.What do you like about being tall?
A
.There are times when the attention is welcomed (especially when I'm all glammed up and KNOW I look good). There's an immediate command of authority that can get you places if you embrace and let it. It's also very hard to forget me and therefore, I usually get any job I go for. I look excellent in clothes, especially when they ACTUALLY fit correctly.

Q. What do you dislike about being tall?
A
.This used to be an answer I could go on and on and on about. But now, not that it's not the same things I hate, but I just hate them a lot less than I did. If anything, there are things that annoy me about being tall. And that's less so being tall and more so PEOPLE who annoy me. So. I hate being bothered EVERY time I leave the house...sometimes I don't look good nor am I in the mood to answer the same questions a bunch of times. I hate being tall and public transport, but that should inspire me to get a license right? |(Or at least at driver, haha). And finally, I hate that clothes and shoes still don't really cater to anyone taller than 6ft and that when stores or brands do try to expand for tall people - the clothes look like my grandma would wear them.

Q. Have you learned to embrace your height? Why or why not?
A
.Yes I have. I think the only thing I'm still trying to embrace is shorter men and not seeing height as masculine or feminine. I always used to hate leaving the house or being around people because my height was always the sole topic of conversation or the butt of every joke - and it was weird, and embarrassing and I always felt uncomfortable. But then I realised, I was letting other people dictate my emotions - and that shit stopped quickly. Embracing my height meant embracing me. There's literally nothing I can do about my height apart from live a very negative and sheltered life, OR, embrace it to the fullest and allow myself to live my best life. I went for the latter and I've never looked back.
I also allow myself to have off days and mope a bit about dumb shit regarding my height or life. I just make sure it doesn't last a lifetime. Life is too short.

Q.What age did you notice that your were tall/unique? Were you teased?
A
.I was always kinda gangly but then I had a 7 inch growth spurt in the summer before I turned 15, and then steadily grew to the height I am now (6'5). At first, I hated it. I hated that this added ANOTHER difference in my life as I already don't look like the "average pretty girl". People would call me giraffe, or laugh at my ankle swingers or ask dumb questions - to be honest, that still happens, but I just care less.

Q. Where is your favorite place to shop for clothes and shoes?
A
.Right now, I'm really feeling online shops. ASOS is tryna be the tall people champion and are doing a good job. BooHoo also caters to a decent height and their clothes are decently priced, but - you also get what you pay for. Missguided does the best tall skirts and barefoottess do good shoes (sometimes, grannyish), but they are very expensive. I stock up on shoes from Nordstrom Rack when I visit American and also basically live in trainers/vans/converse - just because I'm used to these types of shoes catering to my size.

Q. What is the number one question one people ask you daily because you're tall?
A
.Do you play basketball.

Q. Do you wear heels? Why or why not?
A
.Hell yes. They make my butt and legs look fucking fantastic. Also, people are already, so might as well give them something to look at.

Q. Are you a girly girl, tomboy or both?
A
.I am anything I want to be, when I want to be it. I will rock heels and a dress or jeans and trainers. Sometimes, I combine the two. Dress to how you feel, NOT how you're 'expected' to dress.

Q. Advice for others who are struggling to embrace their height?
A.
It's not you, it's them. I could go on and on and on with motivational phrases. But, I've summarized it to: it's not you, it's them. People are stupid and will say stupid stuff. People will laugh or marvel or gawk at you. Some people take pictures. Some people boldly ask if you're a man.
Don't these people sound absolutely bloody STUPID? People who have their own issues and project that onto others?
It is them, that needs to change. Not you. You are perfect in every way, and if you can get your confidence up and truly embrace your height, you'll realize that.

Q. Have you learned to embrace your height? Why or why not?
A
.Absolutely i'm tall and proud.  I even wear heels up to 5 inches

Q. What age did you notice that your were tall/unique? Were you teased?
A
.Well I've always been tall for a girl.  Always lined up in the back of the class but i really noticed it in middle school when i began to tower over all of my friends and most of the boys i had crushes on.  I was teased more for being skinny than i was tall.

Meet Taunya (Georgia)
50 6'2 ft tall

Q. Who do you get your height from? Mom or Dad?
A
.I actually get my height from both sides of the family.  The funny thing is, at 5’6”, my mom was the shortest of her siblings and at 5’9” my dad was the shortest of his siblings.  Both of my mom’s sisters were 5’10 and 5’11 respectively and her brother was 6’0.  My dad had a brother that was 6’7 and his sister was 6’2.  Needless to say, tallness runs in my extended family but my parents were considered shorties

Q. What do you like about being tall?
A
.There are so many awesome things about being tall!  I have no problem reaching anything and am often asked for assistance (grocery stores, shoe stores, etc.).  I love towering over everyone when I enter a room and never have a problem with the view.  But what I love the most is the confidence it comes with.  When I walk into a room I OWN it!!

Q. What do you dislike about being tall?
A.
I’m sure this is one of the biggest complaints from tall people and that’s how hard it is to find clothes that fit, mainly pants that are long enough.  This experience can be so frustrating!!

Q.Have you learned to embrace your height? Why or why not?
A
Yes, I learned to embrace my height when I was a Freshman in high school.  Not only because I didn’t have a choice (There weren’t any procedures that could make a tall person short), but because it was something my parents encouraged me to do.  They distilled in me that being tall was beautiful and unique and nothing to be ashamed of.  To help me with this, my dad enrolled me in a modeling school at the age of 15.  I learned to walk gracefully, with my head held high and to love the beautiful girl that I was.

Q. What age did you notice that your were tall/unique? Were you teased?
A.
Up until the age of 12 I was only 5’4”.  When I returned to junior high school the following school year I was a whopping 6’0.  I was called everything from bean pole, to jolly the green giant, to olive oil, to amazon girl.  I was miserable.  I was the taller than all of the boys and girls and even the teachers.  It was hard for me to make friends and I developed esteem issues.  As mentioned in question 4, this all changed because of the support of my parents and being enrolled in modeling school to learn to accept and appreciate my height.

Q. Where is your favorite place to shop for clothes and shoes?
A
.I’m so fortunate to only wear a size 9/9.5 shoe so I’m able to find shoes almost anywhere.  Clothing, well that’s another story.  I’m 6’2” but my legs are long.  My inseam is 37 which makes it difficult to find pants long enough.  I love shopping at Alloy and New York & Company.  I keep hearing that other stores like, Gap, Old Navy, The Loft, JCPenny, have clothing for tall women but I haven’t been able to find anything.

Q. What is the number question people ask you daily because you're tall?
A.
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me if I played basketball – I would be a millionaire
How’s the weather up there, and OMG how tall are you are close seconds.

Q. Do you wear heels? Why or why not?
A
. Yes!! I love wearing heels. My tallest pair of heels are 5.5 inches.  I love that it makes me even taller!! Modeling helped me gain the confidence needed to wear any kind of heel.  Again, when I walk into a room with heels on I OWN the room.  It’s just truly unbelievable.  Plus, I love fashion

Q. Are you a girly girl, tomboy or both?
A
. I’m actually both!! Being an athlete (Basketball, Track, Softball, and Cheerleader) kept me being a tomboy for a while.  Ponytails, tennis shoes and sweats were my favorite.  But after learning about makeup, clothes, and fashion I had the desire to dress up more often – it’s fun being a girly girl but extremely comfortable being a tomboy. I love them both!!

Q. Advice for others who are struggling to embrace their height?
A
.My advice would be to focus on the positive.  Write down at least 3 things you love about being tall and embrace those reasons.  Embrace the reality of being tall because we can’t change it!! Love yourself and know that being tall is beautiful!!  Ignore the negative/rude things that you may hear and always replace them with positive affirmations that help you get through the day!  Being tall is amazing!!! I always say God thought I was special and gave me more inches so that I would always stand out.
